Depict movies

I like blue face because the meaning behind it shows that he doesn’t have  blue face but the light from the phone gives a the main character a blue face even though they are actually red. Also they show that when they are engulfed by the phone they don’t realise that there is a group of people who keep walking behind them because they are completely engulfed by the virtual reality. They also show that he came back to reality waked for bit which had simple animations o lines following the path of the character and then they go to search something and get distracted by the notifications and got sucked back into the a virtual reality. Then at the end I like how he is completely engulf that he couldn’t see that he was in danger and that there was something dangerous behind them. I like how they put simple sound effect, they had a simple slow jolly song and then it had sound effect of the phone. They had a similar screen shot through-out the whole frame. They had the main character in the center of the frame or slightly off. They also show that the character is completely blind to the outside world because they don’t notice the bird which lands on top of his phone, in the screen when they look at their phone notifications there is a snail which is moving in front of them slightly of center so you can see it but they don’t any notice towards it. I like it because it’s a very simple animation and only has a basic story behind it but there is a lot more meaning behind I than what’s first obvious to the eye. I also like that there isn’t any harsh sounds just simple and nature like music to the film.

Creator- Anton Dushkin

 https://www.depict.org/2017/creator/?category_request=2017

I like creator because it has a fun and jolly look to it at first but as the story develops the feel for the film completely changes. I like how the animation is just using playdoh and a simple dull coloured background. They used a lot of murmurs from the characters to help the character express their feelings in that period of time, this helps the audience understand what the character is thinking/feeling. The creator shows that people will get jealous of other people who can create beautiful piece of art and that they will steal the idea or the product from the other person, this can dishearten or destroy what they have made. The blue man is used to represent the people who are jealous/envy the creative people and want to steal their ideas. The red character is used to show the creative people. as the red man starts to create things using himself the blue man attempts at doing the same thing but nothing happens and he gets annoyed. he then looks at the red man and steals his flower type creation and puts it on himself and mixes it in with his own body. He keeps doing this till the red man is left a stick, the red man used all of himself up to make one final piece which the blue man takes and make himself completely round which shows that he is rolling in what the other character has made.

I like this because they have used a simple material to create the animation and that they have used a happy/jolly type of music throughout the whole film until the blue man has taken all of the red man which then the music ends and then the blue man starts to whistle the beat of the music which just ended.

Ideas are illegal- Edward Bulmer

https://www.depict.org/2017/ideas-are-illegal/?category_request=2017

I picked 'Ideas are illegal' because I like the meaning behind the story. I like how they are showing that in the society that they are working/living in that they cannot be different from each other. They have to be all the same because being different is scary and is a bad thing to be. This meaning is also linking into nowadays society because everybody wants to be like each other nobody wants to be different or be the outsider so it's easier and safer to be sheep. The whole film is mainly in black and white to show no creativity because we represent colour with being creative. The only different colour is the light bulb on his head which glows a yellow colour. We also associate light bulbs above our head and glowing is that we have an idea about something. This causes people to look because that person has a different colour. The character which has the idea runs away from a human hand which is much bigger than the character, this is used to establish power and that the human hand has more power than the character.
There is multiple different angle shots from zoom in shots, cuts and flash back which represents the character thoughts.
The character had to choose to give up his creativity by pulling his light bulb out and letting it fall and smash on the ground. He is clearly sad about having to do this but he had to choose that or having the risk of it going off again and getting punished for it.
There is no music being played in the background just the sound of factory and people working, this also gives the feeling of no creativity because music is creative and they don't want that. When the character is being chased by the hand there is sound of violins which are being played fast and at a high pitch which gives the audience the feel of being in danger.
