Evaluation for Depict production

In our depict film we shot scenes from a distance from where the characters were walking towards each other, one was walking towards the camera the other was walking away.
We also shot from a front portrait of all three characters so you could see them from the chest up, another shot we had was close up of the characters masks as they painted it and took it off; there was a side shot of two characters when then removed their masks.
There was only one shot which there is camera movement it is a pan as the first character starts walk towards another character, all the other shots the camera is static and in edit they follow an object or move. There was mainly headshot angles nothing high or low but level with the actors height. In one shot the eye of the actor is in the right hand top corner, the shot of when the first character is taking off her mask which is angled at the actors torso to follow the mask not the face.
LONG SHOT

MEDIUM CLOSE UP SHOTS

There is blending of the mask in the open credits to the mask which the actor is wearing, from there it has been zoomed into the mask and then it zooms out to show the other two characters. We’ve mainly used cuts between each scene. There is a wobble effect been added to the scene where the actor has taken off the mask and is bringing it down and as they bring it down the wobble effect transition the black and white filter back to colour. The colour of the shots have been edited to create different feelings within that scene. There is a main character which is established because they are the first character we see and that they have the most scenes ad close-ups compared to the other two characters. When the character removes the mask the camera follow the mask but in editing we slow down the section after the wobble effect because before slowing it down the camera snaps down so editing slow the the snap isn’t as clear as it was before edit.

THE TRANSITION

In our film we only used Non-diegetic sound because we had not included dialog so we had gentle music but the big effect of sound was when the shot goes from black and white to colour we included static sound effect to show it converting. The music starts of quiet and gentle and is the same throughout most of the film.
The biggest prop in production was the masks, and paints which we painted the mask with. We had only two settings one outside next to the college the other was the studio where we had access to direct lighting. But we didn’t use dramatic lighting in the studio and outside you can’t really control the lighting. We didn’t do anything to the surrounding settings because we wanted simple background to make the characters stand out a lot more. We used the college pathway as a setting for the characters to have a path to walk towards each other.
